Brian and I are about to begin a journey after years of dreaming and months of planning. It is the beginning of a lot of things for us. The beginning of us leaving our families and friends for an extended period of time…..the beginning of us not working for the first time in our lives….the beginning of us living out of our backpacks for 14 months………..and the beginning of memories that will shape the rest of our lives. It’s been a fun process these last few months of planning where we’ll be going and buying all of our gear. Everything has fallen into place quite easily and to quote the Alchemist….the universe has conspired to help us reach our dream. It will be sad to leave our families and friends, but thankfully some of them will be meeting us on the road! Brian’s mom, Kathy, will be meeting us in Rome and spending Easter at the Vatican. My friend Beth will also be meeting us in Rome and traveling around Italy. We’ll be meeting up with my good friend Mike and his wife Mara in the Democratic Republic of the Congo where he is the country director for an organization called FINCA. Then Brian’s cousin Keith will be meeting us in South Africa for 10 days. My friend Marni will be meeting us in Nepal and we’ll be seeing my mom in Vietnam. Everybody asks when exactly are we leaving? Well it depends we always say….and then throw out a bunch of dates which just confuse people (I know it would confuse me) which then of course leads to them forgetting the dates (because everybody always forgets things that are confusing and who could blame them?) So here it is….the dates when we will be leaving the following cities: Brian leaves for Chicago on March 12th
Susan leaves for Chicago on March 18th
Brian and Susan leave for NYC on March 25th
Brian and Susan leave for Amsterdam on March 29th
Brian and Susan arrive in Rome on March 31st and meet Brian’s mom
And the journey begins……………….

Well we have decided to quit our jobs and travel around the world. I know you all have different thoughts about it that range from, WOW that is awesome, Cool wish we could do that, to my favorite, You guys are NUTS.
From planning our trip to the actual trip, you will be able to enjoy our trip with us by reading about our experiences here.
We will continue to post on the site here so you can have an updated idea of what we are planning on doing, where we plan on going, and most importantly when we are doing it. Since this is our first posting we will keep it short. We are planning on leaving the country on March 29 out of NYC. We will spend the middle two weeks of March in Chicago and then the last couple days in NYC before we go. This will give us a chance to spend some time with family and friends before the trip.
We hoped you enjoyed our introduction and that you will stop back to experience our trip with us.
